    ABOUT TRUE SCRIPTURE
The purpose of True Scripture is to make the Bible easier to read and understand for believers and non believers alike. Most people learn their Bible stories in Sunday School, confirmation class or weekly church service, which significantly limits the material to which they are exposed. While many take comfort in various inspirational passages, very few people indeed have read the entire book.

    True Scripture Book of Genesis
Above: Jacob in the process of stealing Esau's blessing. Simple math tells us that Mom Rebekkah is 95 years old at this point, and Jacob is 60. They both look marvelous.

This situation is easily explained. For one thing, the Bible is not easy reading. Even in newer translations in more “modern” language, the text tends to be long-winded and repetitious. The chronology is hard to follow and passages are inserted seemingly at random. Some segments contradict others and some stories are so confusing as to discourage further any reading.

Furthermore, priests, rabbis and ministers are tasked with facilitating your spiritual relationship with God, not to making you a biblical scholar. In general, the clergy is unlikely to highlight such stories as Jephthah sacrificing his daughter on the altar (to thank God for a military victory) or Elisha summoning bears to kill forty-two children (for mocking his baldness).

True Scripture condenses exactly what is written in the Bible into concise* and entertaining prose, including all of the surprising, amusing and sometimes disturbing details. Easy to understand footnotes provide additional historical and linguistic perspectives for confusing or contradictory passages. When you read True Scriptures, we invite you to read along with your own Bible: nothing has been added or changed.
